Lieutenant Colonel Scott
Perry is assigned as the Commander, 166th Regiment at Fort Indiantown Gap. He
assumed that position in April 2010 after completion of his Command of 2nd Battalion 104th Aviation, which he commanded in Iraq.
|
|
Perry is a graduate
of Northern High School in Dillsburg. He went on to further his education by
graduating from Pennsylvania State University in 1991 where he
attained a Bachelor Science degree in Business Administration Management.
|
|
LTC Perry began his
military Career in 1980 when he enlisted in the Pennsylvania Army National
Guard. He attended basic training
at Fort Dix, NJ, and graduated Advanced Individual Training at Fort Belvoir, VA
as a technical drafting specialist. He
graduated as the president of class 24 of the Pennsylvania state officer
candidate school and was commissioned a second lieutenant - field artillery
branch.

He served as an Aerial
Observer in HHB 28th Infantry Division Div Arty. He was assigned to the 108th Field Artillery as a Fire
Support Team Leader before transferring to Company A, aviation general support,
as a section leader. He served as a
scout platoon leader in Troop C (Air) 1/104 Cav, Commander of Detachment 1
1/104 Cav, Commander - Troop C (Air) 1/104 Cav, A2C2 officer - 28 Aviation
Brigade, Assistant S3 Air - 28 Infantry Division (Mech), as S2 - 28th
Aviation Brigade and Executive Officer of the 1/104 Cavalry Squadron.

Perry
additionally served as the military liaison officer to the Office of the
High Representative, American Ambassador Henry Clark. Ambassador
Clark lived in an armed fortress and traveled with a special forces
security detachment. Scott advised the ambassador on military and
security actions in the Area of Operations, planned for his safety and the
security of the compound, and visited local schools and other points of
interest as the military's representative in the area under our
control. At times he traveled with an interpreter while at other
times it was necessary to travel armed but in civilian clothes to minimize
detection.

Perry had the
honor of being named Executive Officer of Task Force Saber in
Bosnia and Hercegovina where he was responsible for coordinating the task force
staff, and acted as the chief aviation representative for the task force. In
the spring of 2005 he was selected as the Safety officer in the Joint Command
State Aviation Office.

Perry's military
education includes the Aviation Officer Basic, Advance Course, Cavalry Leader's
Course, Combined Arms Staff Services School, and Command and General Staff
College. He attended army aviation flight training at Fort Rucker Alabama,
where he was an honor graduate for his class in 1986. He
is qualified in the OH58 A/C/A+, UH1, OH6, AH1, CH47, and the AH-64A. He
has completed high altitude training and is also an instructor pilot.

LTC Perry's military
awards and decorations include the Master Army Aviator Badge, The Meritorious
Service Medal, the Joint Army Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal
with bronze oak leaf cluster, the Army Achievement Medal with 2 bronze oak leaf
cluster, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with silver oak leaf
cluster, National Defense Service Medal with bronze service star, Armed Forces
Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with silver hour glass and M
device, Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon
with 4 device, NATO Medal, PA 20 Year Medal, MG T.R. White Medal, & the
Gen. T.J. Stewart Medal. He is also the recipient of the honorable orders of
Saint Michael, and Saint George.
